It will also examine the process of obtaining Greenstar accreditation for a commercial office building. An architecture design competition like no other as design skills are used to create culinary delights in the form iconic architectural cakes. Open to students and professionals alike, competitors are asked to design, bake and present their creations at the Architecture 'Cake-Off' where the creations will be tasted and judged to find out which creation takes the cake! He has long fought for sustainability, producing work of the highest design quality, long before the importance of sustainability was understood. His work is focused on economising the earth's resources and he suggests that to be sustainable in architecture we must exercise frugality. He uses sensitive and innovative design principles and building techniques, frugality in usage of energy and building materials. He uses, by choice, local and indigenous renewable building materials that are easily accessible and re-useable. The University of Tasmania recently awarded Jimmy with an Honorary Doctorate in recognition of his contribution to sustainable architecture.
